1950s Tala Kitchen Trio

69,00

Three boxed vintage Tala kitchen utensils: two metal icing syringe sets with four and six decorating nozzles, plus a pure aluminium Two-Way Egg Slicer. Made in England and principally dating from around the 1950s, with the egg slicer design itself registered as early as 1932.

A charming collection of three original Tala kitchen utensils, Made in England, preserved in their original boxes and full of the character of the mid-century British kitchen.

The group comprises two silver-coloured metal icing syringes for traditional cake decorating: one with four interchangeable nozzles and a second Tala Icing Set No. 1705 with six different decorating nozzles. The latter also retains its delightful original “Icing with Tala” recipe and instruction booklet, illustrating the elaborate cakes and desserts so associated with post-war home entertaining. The No. 1705 set is consistently identified as dating from around the 1950s.

Completing the collection is a boxed Tala Two-Way Egg Slicer No. 573, made from aluminium with stainless-steel cutting wires and designed to produce both round and oval slices. Particularly interesting is its registered design number, 774490: British registered-design tables place this number in 1932. This dates the original design rather than necessarily the manufacture of this particular example, as Tala continued producing successful designs for many years.

The colourful original packaging — turquoise, mustard yellow, coral and period typography — makes these pieces particularly appealing as decorative kitchenalia as well as collectable examples of British domestic design.

All three pieces are in very good vintage condition considering their age and use. The boxes retain their attractive original graphics and naturally show age-related rubbing, creasing, small tears and wear to edges and corners. The metal utensils have the gentle patina expected of genuine vintage kitchenware.

This group comes from the contents of a historic Portuguese solar, where it had been preserved for many decades.
