A charming antique Chinese carved amethyst crystal figure, depicting a reclining male figure, possibly a monk or Budai-inspired character. The stone has a beautiful natural variation, moving from deep purple amethyst into milky white and clear crystal, with internal veining and inclusions that give the piece depth and individuality.
The carving shows fine detail in the face, robes and flowing decorative patterns, all worked into a compact and tactile hardstone form. In very good antique condition, with the natural irregularities expected in amethyst crystal. A distinctive collector’s piece, decorative object or spiritual accent, sourced from the contents of an old Portuguese manor house.
