An evocative vintage Portuguese paperweight in clear, faceted glass, with a geometric, approximately hexagonal outline and deeply bevelled edges.
Beneath the glass is a coloured devotional print of Queen Saint Isabel, inscribed “Rainha Santa Isabel — Protectora de Coimbra”. The angled facets catch and refract the light, while the softly coloured blue and rose background creates an attractive iridescent, almost holographic effect.
A charming desk object with strong Portuguese religious and regional character, this piece comes from the contents of a historic Portuguese manor house. The central figure of Queen Saint Isabel remains clear and well preserved, although the surrounding printed background has areas of age-related deterioration and loss.
Good vintage condition overall, with light wear consistent with age. The deterioration to the image backing is clearly visible in the photographs and should be considered part of the item’s history and character. No maker’s mark has been identified.
