A rare French gilt ormolu-style jewellery casket in the charming form of a miniature pram or carriage, with working wheels and a finely detailed basket-weave filigree body. The hinged bevelled glass lid opens smoothly to reveal a beautifully tufted pale blue velvet interior, ideal for rings, small jewels or precious keepsakes.
The gilt metalwork has a warm antique glow, with elegant age-related patina that enhances its decorative character. The structure is in very good to excellent condition for its age, with no structural losses noted to the ormolu-style frame, and the wheels remain functional. A delicate and highly decorative piece from a Portuguese manor house, full of Belle Époque charm and collector appeal.
