A charming vintage Portuguese majolica lidded pot in the form of a pumpkin, hand-painted in glossy ochre, green and dark blue glazes.
Originally, this type of covered ceramic piece would have sat between pantry, kitchen and table, used for sugar, preserves, condiments or small dry goods. Today it makes a beautiful decorative jar for wrapped sweets, tea bags, jewellery, keys or simply as a characterful country house kitchen accent.
From the Madame Brocante Country House collection. Two small chips to the lid, otherwise in good vintage condition with age-related glaze marks and surface character.
