A wonderful example of an early reversible coffee maker, constructed in silver-coloured metal with a turned black wooden handle, pouring spout and original internal filter components.
Russian Egg coffee pots were designed to be heated and then inverted, allowing the water to pass through the coffee by gravity. Comparable museum examples date from around 1900.
This example comes from a Portuguese manor house and has an attractive, naturally aged surface showing the marks of many decades of use.
The original table stand and spirit burner are missing. The coffee pot itself retains the principal internal components shown in the photographs. Because of its age and unverified metal composition, it is offered primarily as an antique collectible and decorative object; suitability for present-day food use or modern hobs has not been certified.
Condition: Good antique condition, with age-related surface marks, tarnishing, discolouration, minor oxidation and wear. Please study the photographs, which form an important part of the description.
