This delightful Portuguese .833 silver creamer (leiteira) has all the elegance of turn-of-the-century table silver: a rounded, bulbous body with a generous pouring lip, a high sweeping handle, and three small feet enriched with vegetalist/foliate appliqués. It’s the sort of refined, compact piece that would have sat beside a tea service for serving milk or cream, while still looking beautiful displayed on a tray or bar cart.
The jug bears the Portuguese Boar’s Head guarantee mark (“Javali II”), used for .833 silver within the 1887–1937 hallmarking window.
Stylistically, the soft curves and botanical detailing strongly suggest a late-19th to early-20th century date—very much in keeping with c. 1895–1915 (Art Nouveau / turn-of-the-century taste).
