Rare French porcelain cosmetic/ointment pot, c.1860, printed in grisaille with a lion to the lid and oxen around the body, with gilded highlights. Marked “VÉRITABLE POMMADE DU LION.”
Condition: antique wear; lid broken with a section missing at the flange/edge; rubbing to gilding and minor marks commensurate with age. Displays well despite losses.
Size (approx.): Ø 7 cm, H 4.2 cm.
