A charming vanity piece from an old Portuguese solar: a sculptural leaf-form dish in gilt metal (ormolu-style), paired with a crystal perfume bottle held in an ornate filigree mount. The naturalistic leaves and scrolling lines create a soft, romantic silhouette—perfect as a ring dish, trinket catch-all, or simply as a decorative accent on a console or dressing table.
Probable period: While “around 1800” is sometimes stated for pieces like this, comparable French ormolu-mounted scent/vanity accessories are most commonly associated with the Second Empire (Napoleon III) into the Belle Époque, roughly the late 19th to early 20th century (c.1860–1910). This type of ornate gilt mount and vanity presentation appears frequently in documented late-19th-century French perfume sets and stands.
Condition: Very good for its age. The leaf dish shows two darker stains/marks consistent with age and oxidation; the bottle and stopper present well. (Please see photos.)
