Large Portuguese devotional sculpture of the Madonna of Mount Carmel with the Christ Child, c.19th century. Painted and gilt porcelain figure on a shaped wooden base modelled with a globe and five angel heads. Supplied with two unmarked silver crowns and a pair of velvet scapulars. Beautiful hand-worked detail and warm gilding; light age wear consistent with use (please see photos).
